You can be part of an effective Christ honouring ministry in the Middle East.
"MERF and the Reformed Family of Churches worldwide, are engaged in encouraging and strengthening the Church throughout the Middle East . Non-Christians are responding to the challenge of the Gospel of Christ. They are being discipled by national Christians. Those in need are being helped spiritually and in practical ways."
The Middle East Reformed Fellowship
is a religious, non-profit and non-political charitable organisation, serving in the Middle East on behalf of Reformed Family of Churches and believers worldwide. It is for those who are committed to proclaim the historic Christian faith as expressed in the early ecumenical creeds and the confessions of the Reformation.

Activities and Ministries

I. Evangelism

An indigenous, God-centred and church-directed outreach is at the heart of MERF's strategy. Recognizing the importance of indigenous evangelists and the effective, far-reaching impact of the media, MERF moves positively towards reaching the unreached millions of the region.

  • National Evangelists know the circumstances, language and culture of their own people; by God's grace they are able to wisely do the work of evangelism.
  • Gospel Radio broadcasts bring God's Word to 340 million people who live in the 22 nations of the Arab League. MERF's Gospel broadcasts are designed to bring to light the full impact of human sinfulness as it contrasts with the riches of Christ's redemptive grace.

II. Church Extension

Through the use of the radio, the witness of nationals, the use of literature and other means, many have come to know Christ in lands which have no churches.

MERF also seeks to encourage the growth and extension of existing Reformed congregations by means of providing suitable training and literature, as well as by evangelistic projects in needy areas serviced by these congregations.

Publishing and circulating Reformed literature in the Arabic language has from the very beginning been at the heart of MERF's indigenous strategy. In addition to several simple evangelistic tracts and pamphlets, MERF has been involved in translating into Arabic and publishing more substantial works.

III. Biblical Training

Evangelical Study Centre and Research Library

In order to serve the churches effectively, MERF has established in Cyprus a centre for training and study. The research facilities are available for pastors and others to strengthen their scriptural and theological knowledge in a practical way through structured or independent study to equip them for effective ministries. This includes a growing library of literature and audiovisual materials on a wide range of topics.

IV. Diaconal Aid

WE PROVIDE DIACONAL AID IN TIME OF NEED

Diaconal aid is provided through National MERF Committees working through the local Church. MERF aims to 'do good to all - particularly to those who are of the household of faith'. The strategy is to equip people to be self sufficient rather than to just meet immediate needs.

2 WAYS YOU CAN HELP

PRAYER

MERF is engaged in a spiritual battle for the souls of men and women, boys and girls in the Middle East. Prayer support for those involved is vital. Contact MERF and find out how you can be actively involved in this way. Contact MERF if you want to start a MERF prayer meeting at your church.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

While it costs about one sixth of the cost of a Westerner to support a local Christian worker in the Middle East, the work of MERF is still in need of sacrificial financial support. Radio broadcasts cost about $1000 per day. Aid to those in need is an ongoing expense. The costs associated with the teaching ministry of the John Calvin Centre are continuing although the benefits are immense. Contact MERF or your church leader to find out how you can best contribute.
